When Blastbeats Meet Baba Ghanoush: IGORRR’s Back to Break Your Brain (and Your Tastebuds)
Welcome to the sonic soul of “Blastbeat Falafel” - the latest kitchen fire cooked up by French genre-assassin IGORRR, and the fourth course on their impending aural apocalypse, Amen. Dropping September 19 via Metal Blade Records, Amen is less an album and more a twelve-track exorcism of logic, genre, and good taste.
With twenty years of musical mischief under his belt, Gautier Serre is still finding fresh, unholy ways to scramble your neurons. This time he’s enlisted avant-anarchists Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle) and Timba Harris (Estradasphere, Secret Chiefs 3) for a musical mezze of baroque blast beats and Eastern psychosis. The result? Something that sounds like Meshuggah got lost in Marrakesh during a psychotic break.
Serre describes the track as “an unnatural and unorthodox connection between metal and traditional oriental music.” Translation: a headbanger ate too much shawarma and woke up in a padded cell. It’s chaotic. It’s wrong. And it’s totally IGORRR.
Watch “Blastbeat Falafel” - if your ears can handle it. While you're still conscious, check out the earlier single "ADHD" - a sonic caffeine injection for anyone who thinks Ritalin's too slow.
What Even Is Amen?
Amen is not your dad’s metal album. Hell, it’s not even metal. It’s an alchemical clusterbomb of everything from baroque to breakcore. Gothic choirs recorded in churches? Check. Harpsichords trading blows with drum machines? Yup. Titles like "Mustard Mucous" and "Pure Disproportionate Black and White Nihilism"?
Oh man, IGORRR is back with a vengeance.
“There’s a darker weight to this one,” Serre explains, like a gravekeeper describing a newly-dug pit. “The choir. The solemnity. The sound design. It’s all been meticulously engineered to break you down, track by track.”
And just when you think you can’t take any more, along comes a track like Blastbeat Falafel - a shot of sonic limoncello to reset your brain and prepare you for more audio punishment.

Who’s This For?
You. The glitchcore freak who listens to Aphex Twin backwards. The blastbeat lifer who thinks Cannibal Corpse could use more clarinet. The classical nerd who wants to mosh in a tuxedo. The perverse, the curious, the genre-fluid. Amen isn't here to convert you. It's here to consume you.
Stay tuned - because Gautier’s fever dreams aren’t over yet. And Amen is shaping up to be a record so deranged, it’ll make your Spotify algorithm cry.
