FIXATION is back with a vengeance:

Hot off the success of their explosive debut album, Norwegian metalcore juggernaut Fixation is back with a vengeance, ready to unleash Speak in Tongues—a conceptual mini-album that digs deep into the themes of belonging, identity, and power. Across eight scorching tracks, Fixation takes you on a sonic rollercoaster, where their trademark thought-provoking lyrics are woven into a multi-layered soundscape of pure adrenaline.

This isn’t just an album; it’s an experience—equal parts epic and experimental. Drawing inspiration from films like Dune and Don’t Worry Darling, and artists like Aurora, Fixation has sharpened their edge. The lush, melodic vocals they’re known for now collide with raw, primal screams from frontman Jonas Hansen, unleashing a brand-new dimension of their sound.

“The story is about a person searching for meaning in a world that keeps rejecting them,” says Hansen. “They find solace in a cult, only to realize it’s no better than the society that cast them out. They create their own cult, but in doing so, lose themselves.”

Hansen shares how the band has long been fascinated by the psychology behind cults, packing the album with hidden messages and “Easter eggs” for die-hard fans.

Musically, Fixation has leveled up from their 2023 breakout More Subtle Than Death. With Speak in Tongues, the band refines their sound, experiments with vocal dynamics, and pushes boundaries to craft something truly original.

“This is hands down our best work,” Hansen declares. “We’ve evolved as musicians, and this time we didn’t hold back. We hope the world feels the same fire we do.”

Speak in Tongues drops October 11th, 2024, marking yet another milestone in an already massive year for Fixation. After bagging the Breakthrough of the Year award at the Norwegian Publishing Awards and snagging a Song of the Year nomination for their hit track "Ignore the Disarray," the band is making waves in a way no metal act ever has before—literally. They're the first metal band to even be nominated, let alone win these prestigious accolades.

Fixation’s meteoric rise is no accident. The Breakthrough of the Year award speaks to the band's rapid-fire climb, firmly planting them as one of the genre's most electrifying new names. Since their 2023 debut album, they’ve played over 60 international shows, sharing stages with the likes of Devin Townsend, Imminence, and Annisokay. Their relentless, high-octane live sets have earned them slots at Europe’s most iconic festivals—Tons of Rock, The Great Escape, Summer Breeze Open Air, Tuska, Masters of Rock, Eurosonic, and even Download Festival.

The hype is real, with glowing reviews pouring in from the global press. BBC Radio 1’s Daniel P. Carter revealed just how big Fixation's sound has gotten, sharing:

“Jordan from Bring Me The Horizon texted me like, ‘what band was that, what was that song called?’—that says a lot!” Meanwhile, Kerrang! Radio’s Alex Baker sees a future that's blindingly bright for the Tønsberg boys, saying, “It’s a colossal sound from a band that’s destined to blow up.”
