Fresh off the 2023 Eisner Award win for "Do a Powerbomb" and rising to fame with his innovative take on the Eisner Award-nominated "Transformers" comic book series, Daniel Warren Johnson is teaming up with dynamic artist Riley Rossmo for a new, heart-wrenching tale in the upcoming miniseries, "The Moon is Following Us." This ten-issue series, announced exclusively by IGN, marks Rossmo's return to Image Comics and is set to debut in September.

Sam and Duncan LaMarr adore their six-year-old daughter, Penny, more than anything. However, six months ago, she was taken by the Cascade, a sinister force they scarcely comprehend. Now, Sam and Duncan must join forces with the magical beings Penny loved to try and bring her back before she is lost forever.

“Not only is Riley an amazing person, but his linemaking and design sensibilities are some of the best I’ve ever seen. He is the perfect co-creator and artist to tackle such a huge and expansive world that we’ve made in The Moon is Following Us," said Johnson. "Riley takes my scripts farther than I could have ever imagined, building on top of something I wrote and expanding it into something more wonderful, creepy, and wild than I could have ever done on my own. This book is very personal; it comes from a deep place inside both of us and we are so happy to share it with our fantastic readers."

Rossmo added:

“The Moon is Following Us is as collaborative as you can get creating comics. It’s been amazing working with another artist on a book. Being able to send character designs and layouts back and forth has led to some great pages and covers. If I’m stuck on a composition, I can call DWJ and he’ll send me a 30-second doodle to give me an idea to get past it. Plus, Mike’s colors and Shawn’s lettering is as good as it gets. I’m very grateful to be working with such wonderful people on such a fun book.”
