In which Hughie reluctantly joins Billy Butcher's team, is introduced to the other members and begins to understand the brutal reality of their mission: to take down corrupt superheroes.
What happens in 'The Boys' - Issue 2?
In issue 2 of The Boys, titled "Cherry," Hughie Campbell is introduced to the rest of the team after reluctantly agreeing to join Billy Butcher. The team consists of Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and the Female (of the Species). Butcher shows Hughie the harsh reality of their mission, revealing that their job is to monitor and, when necessary, take down superheroes who abuse their power.
The issue also highlights the darker side of the superheroes, particularly a group called the "Teenage Kix," who are involved in various illegal and immoral activities. Butcher and the team begin gathering evidence to blackmail and control these "supes." The issue ends with Hughie struggling to adjust to this brutal new world and questioning whether he's made the right choice in joining The Boys.
